Rene Toreña - "PaniK" lead guitarist and composer.Born in Bacolod City,Negros Occidental Influenced by the speed and aggression of thrash metal. His first step towards the heavy metal scene is covering songs from megadeth and metallica. Glam rock was also a contribution to his performance in the band, such as skid row, guns n roses and bon jovi.
High school days edit
During his first year in high school at Don Bosco Technical Inst. Victorias city, he had his first band and he was the drummer, they performed alternative songs such as vertical horizon and matchbox 20.
Later in his journey and exploration to music, he learned to play simple bass and chord progressions from his friends.
Late High School edit
Rene was amaze when his friend Raph ask him to listen to progressive bands such as dream theater. And Rene was interested to learn the styles and progression of progressive rock. He then developed his skills in guitar and influenced a lot of students in their school that until now he is remembered.
College Life edit
In his early college he formed a band and having members from his high school friend Ardie and his brother's band before (Duds,Herald,Juan and Lloyd). They decided to perform rock songs covering from velvet revolver, bon jovi, ed guy and later megadeth.
Panik - the start edit
In his second year, a long lost friend named jabe, was also interested to join their band and it was easy for them to have good chemistry in the band because jabe was a metallica fanatic, so Rene, Ardie and jabe formed this new band and named in Panic. The idea was given by Rene, he took it from the band of Dave Mustaine before he joined Metallica. And the first gig was a front act in a concert of bamboo, covering song from megadeth and pantera. the line up was Ardie on vocals, Rene on lead guitar, jabe on harmony and fills, duds and bass and the ex-berne street drummer leonardo on drums. But later, to have a unique name or that sounds more filipino name, the decided to spell the name as PaniK, with the letter K at the end. hmp.
