Mona Kamat Prabhugaonkar (pronounced [moːna kamat proːbʱŭgaːokar]) Hindi:मोना कामत प्रभुगावकर; born 4 October 1986~cite) is an Indian independent singer,[1][2] songwriter, and composer.{~cite} Born in Pune district of Maharashtra.~cite {initial career summary}. Hailing from Mumbai, Mona is not just only a singer, she was a lecturer at KC College of Engineering, Thane. She is a Master of Engineering in Information Technology from Pillai College of Engineering, formerly known as PIIT.[3] Four of her scholarly articles[4][5][6] on IT topics has published in globally reputed technology journals. Mona has also authored a textbook book on ‘Advanced Database’. Mona started her singing lessons while she was in grade three. Later, Mona continued to show her passion and interest into singing while she was pursuing her education. Mona continued to follow her destiny in music, and she was a finalist in Marathi Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mahagayak season 7 held in 2009-10.

editMona has contributed as a playback singer in Marathi movies like, ‘Anya’ (2019), ‘Marmabandh’ (2013), ‘Tuch Khari Gharachi Laxmi’ (2011),[7] etc. Also, she has contributed as a singer in albums like ‘Pankh’ (2016), ‘Na Todo Ye Dil’ (2017), ‘Baarishein’ (2017), ‘Guzaarish’ (2015), ‘Chanda Re Chanda’ (2015), etc. ‘Ye Dil’ (2019) is the song she has written and sang. The song was composed by Kiran Gaikwad.
Marmabandh (2010) [8][9][10] was the first movie that Mona Kamat was a playback singer[11] for the song Prachivari Ye Bhaskar (Female).[12]
She contributed at Khupte Tithe Gupte talk show as a playback singer.[13] With Achyut Thakur, Mona Kamat has participated[14] in many jingles and playbacks for commercial promotions.

Filmography
editMona appeared in a short role of a reporter[22] in a 20th Century Fox’s Hindi movie ‘Split Wide Open’ directed by Dev Benegal, which was released on 1 September 1999. Mona acted as the daughter[23][24] in the Hindi movie ‘Million Dollar Club’ released in 2016.

editMona is married to Dr. Sujay Vithal Prabhugaonkar who is a psychiatrist in profession. They are blessed with two children. Mona's father is Sanjay Kamat. Mona's only sister lives in USA.
