Dr. Yann LeGall

I am a researcher in colonial history, museum collections and memory studies with a background in cultural & literary studies, as well as anthropology. I have also been a members of the civil society initatives Berlin Postkolonial, Decolonize Berlin and Postcolonial Potsdam. I give tours in the Sanssouci Park in Potsdam on traces of colonial history.

Currently, I am a member of the DFG-AHRC research project "The Restitution of Knowledge: artefacts as archives in the (post)colonial museum" at TU Berlin, in partnership with the University of Oxford and the Pitt Rivers Museum.

As part of my PhD project carried out at the University of Potsdam, I developed a blog/website called "Remembering the Dismembered: African Human Remains and Memory Cultures in and after Repatriation" on the snatching of human remains during the colonial era and several history of anti-colonial resistance.
