The Municipality of Laoang is located at the northeastern part of the Province of Northern Samar at the northern portion of Eastern Visayas or Region VIII (See regional map). It is bounded by the Philippine Sea in the north, by the Municipality of Palapag in the south, and by the Municipality of Pambujan in the west. When viewed in a map Laoang can be located at the following coordinates: longitude, 125 00 15” east and at latitude 12 30’ 45’ north. The Municipality of Laoang has 56 barangays, seven of which can be found in the Poblacion.
The part of the Municipality situated in the mainland of Samar is
characterized to have a vast, plain/level land which extends from the
northern part of the mainland down to the portion embracing most areas
occupied by barangays along the Catubig River, Hangtud River and the
Bayug Creek. These areas are devoted primarily to agriculture especially
coconut and rice.
The eastern part of the mainland, except areas of some barangays
along the Hangtud River, is characterized by a moderately undulating and
rolling land sloping in many directions to steeply undulating and rolling
lands sloping in many directions. Gently sloping areas whose land slopes
