On February 23rd 2017, a 38-year old inmate named Slyricus Xavier Winder was found unresponsive in his cell around 2:40 P.M. Winder had been serving an 18-year sentence for Aggravated Assault and had a maximum release date of 2020.

In March of 2017, an inmate correctional officer was charged with violating her oath of office and crossing guard lines with contraband by bringing cannabis into the prison. She refused to be searched by her co-workers when they smelled the strong scent on her person. After requesting a private conversation with the Deputy Warden, the officer produced a small wrap of cannabis.

The prison also offers counseling in the forms of Individual and Group Counseling, Sex Offender Psycho-Educational Program, Moral Recognition Therapy, Family Violence, Thinking for a Change, Lifers, Matrix Relapse Prevention, Matrix Recovery Skills, Ray of Hope, Re-entry Skills Building and TOPPSTEP.[3]
