About My Self
editMy name is Frans Koppelaar. Born 1943 (yes in the middle of WW2).
In 1968 I settled in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
I attended the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. After I finished my training I worked for about 10 years as an art-teacher at various high schools. This was not a big success, but it was appropriate to make a living. In my spare time I developed my painting technique and made some important decisions on what kind of paintings I would love to create.
In 1982 I was ready to have my first show of realistic landscapes and Amsterdam cityscapes. It was a big success, although I must admit that this must have been partly due to the fact that my pricing was quite low. The first thing I did was quitting my job as a teacher to make way for a career as a full-time artist.
I am married to Saskia Siebers, an Art Agent.
I must apologize for my poor English. I hope my additions will be checked and improved by other editors.
