Medievalist was born in what he himself calls the '
medieval' year - 1965 to be exact, which is between the two most important dates: the year in which the first edition of '
The Lord of the Rings' was published in
Poland and the premiere of the first episode of
'Robin Hood' on television. Even as a child, Koncerz was fascinated by anything that was more than 500 years old and smelled of parchment. At primary school, Koncerz stood out not only for his knowledge of the
Crusades, but also for his ability to create
miniature castles out of paper to act out epic battles during history lessons. His teachers eventually decided to help him by transferring him to a humanities class with additional classes in heraldry. Studying at
Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Koncerz not only won the hearts of his professors (often thanks to the gift of mead), but also found his life's calling: discovering forgotten manuscripts that other scholars considered 'boring' or 'irrelevant'. It was thanks to him that the world learned about the '
Codex of
Culinary Alchemy', which turned out to be the oldest cookbook in the world, full of recipes for potions with previously unknown properties.
Koncerz has also made a name for himself through his speeches at conferences. His presentation "Why didn't dragons exist, but everyone believed in them?" was a hit at a conference in Prague, where, dressed as a medieval squire, he proved that the legend of dragons was just a clever marketing ploy by medieval smiths. When Koncerz is not spending time in the archives, he can be found in taverns, where he tests medieval beer recipes he has prescribed. He is also the founder of the 'Brotherhood of the Academic Table and Forgotten Codes', an organisation whose aim is to discover and promote little-known aspects of life in the Middle Ages. A Medievalist connoisseur, a man with a medieval soul and an unbridled passion for ancient times, he is living proof that history need not be boring and that the Middle Ages can be a source of endless inspiration and humour. Koncerz also loves to deal with the whole History of Poland.
