History

edit

"THE 2.8-square-mile Township of Little Falls, which was developed around a 150-foot-wide bend in the Passaic River, has always drawn strength from its waterways.

Its 20-foot-high waterfall, three miles southwest of the Great Falls in Paterson, was harnessed as early as 1763 to power an iron forge owned by Capt. James Gray, who later served under Gen. Henry Clinton in the Revolutionary War."[1]

"Our Township is named for the Passaic River waterfall that formerly spilled downstream from the dam in front of the Beattie Mill."[2]
