The Traditional Korean Color Spectrum, also known as "Obangsek," is the color scheme of the five Korean traditional colors of white, black, blue, yellow and red.[1] [2] In Korean traditional arts and traditional textile patterns, the colors of Obangsek represent five cardinal points (Blue-East, White- West, Black-North, Red-South, and Yellow- Center). [3] These colors are associated in Korean tradition to um and yang: blue with wood, red with fire, yellow with earth, white with metal, and black with water.[4]
