was a forestry activist. He settled in the Yellow Point area south of Nanaimo in 1945 purchasing a 138 acre property that came to be known as Wildwood where he practiced sustainable logging for over 50 years. He made a living from the regular harvests of timber yet after 50 years the timber on the property was greater than when he started. [1]: 13
