I'm (1995-Present) an international student from Japan. I came to Everett as a participant of a study abroad program of my Japanese university. I major in immigration studies and study how to create multicultural society in Japan. Many Hollywood movies that I watched when I was a junior high school student made me get interested in American culture, and this is the reason why I chose America as a country for study abroad. Article Review edit
I visited the Calpis page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its dead link, its unreliable sources, and its lack of information about Calpis's distribution to North America.
Dead link edit
When I checked its sources, I noticed one of the links is dead. I clicked the URL to find out where the information comes from. However, I could not do it because the page has gone or the URL has changed. On Wikipedia, every source has to be accessible at any time, and the source should be replaced by a new one.
Unreliable sources edit
Out of four sources on the page, two are not appropriate sources because both of them are a site named News on Japan, and publishers of the site use their own handles. Therefore, I do not know if they are reliable. Also, URL of the site ends with "com", and it may has bias. For these reasons, it is obvious that the sources are not suitable for Wikipedia.
Information about distribution to North America edit
In the section titled "Name", the article mentions that Calpis is renamed to Calpico in North America. I have seen this drink at some stores in the U.S, and in fact, this information is true. However, it does not tell us how was Calpis, which was originated in Japan, distributed to North America. A source that proves its distribution to North America also should be added on this section.
Summary edit
In conclusion, I definitely think that this page is not appropriate for Wikipedia. One of sources on the page can not be available, and there is no way to say information which is cited from the source.is trustworthy. This source should be removed, and a new source has to be added to prove the information. Two of sources are written by unreliable people, and they are not proper sources. Citations from these two cites must be taken out. In addition, information about Calpis's distribution to North America should be added because the page shows that Calpis is sold under the name of Calpico in North America. It is difficult to say that source itself that says this is not reliable, though.
