History

In early history the reason for why hair was removed was because of cleanliness and fashion reasons. Because there was a lot of lice going on Egyptians often would remove their hair in order to wear wigs. The ancient Egyptians removed their hair in two ways: waxing, and shaving. For waxing they would used caramelized sugar, and use the precursor to the razor when they chose to shave.

As time went on new techniques were found to remove hair such as the one found by Rox Anderson. Anderson was a MIT graduate who received his MD degree magna cum laude . He discovered that one could selectively target a specific chromophore to remove hair for a long period of time. What he discovered was proven to be successful and was applied in 1996. In 1997 the United States Food and Drug Administration approved this tactic of hair removal.
