The William Katt Experience is a band form Australia inspired by the pop culture icon of the 1980's William Katt. Formed in 2004 their albums include, Songs of Hate, Scandinavian Homesick Blues, CougerMellonCampTownMassacre, Drunk Before Noon, Norwegian Roulette,William Katt's Message of Hate and The Nightman Cometh (EP) with a new album scheduled for later this year The Vincent Cassel Seduction Tapes.
Lead singer and songwriter Ignacio Rockwell has had a long battle with drug and alcohol addiction and reports in the Australian media indicate that he is currently living in South America under an assumed name. Whilst the band remains together rumors of a split early this year lead to the cancellation of several gigs in Canada, Denmark and the United States.
The band's folk/punk stylings have lead to much acclaim in Australian music circles however the behavior of their volatile front man has lead to the cancellation of several record deals. Guitarist Nico Strange is quoted in the Australian press as saying "Ignacio has one last chance to sort himself out or that's it", however the band's reliance on him as a song writer is likely to mean that the band and Ignacio will be around for many years to come.
