Hol Sacky Kayone

Born on June 10 1955 at Oshitende near Ogongo in the Omusati region. Sackey Kayone has been the Governor of Omusati. He joined People’s Liberation Army of Namibia (Plan) at Lubango in Angola. He has represented Ogongo in the Omusati Regional Council since 1993. Kayone was a member of the Swapo CC from 1997 to 2002. He has been a member of the Omusati Regional Road Board since 1995 and sits on the Cuvelai Central Water Committee. Kayone faces a series of major challenges in the Omusati region – including water shortages, periodic droughts, and a rising number of HIV-AIDS orphans.

Education: Diploma in political science, East Germany (1980-81). St Mary’s Mission School, Odibo, Ohangwena region (1974-76).

Career: Governor of Omusati region since 1999. Regional Councillor for Ogongo since 1993. Swapo District Coordinator at Onesi and Ruacana (1990-92). He worked as a painter and decorator in Windhoek (1976-77).[1]
