Richard Karpinski

A busybody who nitpicks other people's writings with or without invitation. A lover of wikis and a fellow who likes to feel as though he is helping. Not the same Richard Karpinski who is a technical writer for trade magazines and works out of Chicago.

He spent three decades as a system programmer (now called sysadmin) for UCSF, ending in the mid 1990s. During that time he often had to explain to frustrated computer users that the computers were actually much worse than they had feared. Thus when he came into contact with Jef Raskin, he latched on and worked with him in writing "The Humane Interface" and subsequently promoted those ideas with BZ Web and the Raskin Center for Humane Interfaces among others.
