coming to the islands to get away from the mainland mentality provokes an idea or two that would be helpful to see written about by the contributor above and others...growing up in the mainland, southern calif./catalina island in the 50's and 60's when there was such a different lifestyle there now than was then, i could only imagine that the same would be true of hawaii...since i've had a renewed interest in many things that are hawaiian, including the music, i hope to be able to look on this site for additions on this topic...most of what i remember of the beach/island communitites where i grew up was so much slower, "laid back" as the term was used, and much less of the 24/7 attitude...hasn't the hi-tech, non-stop era we are in made heavy impact on the hawaiian islands, too?
