Apollo Video Technology manufacturers on-board and in-car digital surveillance systems for public transit, school transportation, law enforcement, military, freight transport, and fire and EMS applications. With public sector and commercial deployments throughout North America and worldwide, Apollo Video's Mil-Spec and SAE-rated RoadRunner line of video and audio surveillance systems simplifies real-time video capture and reduces overall costs with exceptional quality, durability and easy offloading of video.

Apollo Video was founded in 2004 to serve the mobile video market, and developed the RoadRunner system which has since been purchased by more than 260 transit agencies worldwide – representing over 6,000 total implementations. Apollo Video Technology has been selected to provide digital video and audio surveillance systems by public agencies including Chicago METRA, King County METRO, Kansas City Area Transit Authority, Edmonton Transit System and the Los Angeles County Metro Transportation Authority.

The Jacksonville Transit Authority (JTA)[1], Jacksonville, Fla., uses Apollo Video’s RoadRunner systems to monitor public safety on-board its fleet of transit buses, community shuttles and Skyway trains. In 2009, JTA[2] installed a new video surveillance system in its trains and stations that wirelessly connects in real-time to the centralized, state-of-the-art command center to increase the safety and security of Skyway trains, buses and the passengers on-board providing live streaming video from all vehicles simultaneously.

The RoadRunner system is also widely used in the pupil transportation market, where school districts, school bus manufacturers and service providers such as First Student regularly install Apollo Video systems in new and refurbished buses.

Apollo Video’s RoadRunner system utilizes software known as the iSM interface to provide transit officials with comprehensive fleet information such as GPS-enabled graphical route information and real-time video feeds. Officials monitoring the speeds, routes and ADA compliance of vehicles, buses and trains, can search an interactive map to locate a route, intersection or vehicle speed and view historical video feeds simultaneously.

For example:

  • Public transit managers use the iSM interface to monitor live and historical video feeds, provide documentation of criminal behavior, increase efficiency within fleet operations, and quickly locate desired video.
  • Pupil transit managers use the iSM interface to ensure that bus routes are followed, identify vehicle speeds and to quickly locate prerecorded video if concerns arise.

Apollo Video’s RoadRunner™ Mobile App for the iPhone® and iPod Touch® allows transit officials to view live video feeds from buses, trains, police cars and transit facilities instantly through Wi-Fi or cellular networks. Transit maintenance personnel can have access to live feeds enabling them to quickly re-adjust camera angles and ensure that all cameras are recording properly.

The application is available from Apple’s iTunes App Store[3]
