Omatando No.1 Village
editOmatando No.1 is a village located in Okatana constituency in Oshana region. It is situated near Ongwediva and Onawa village.Joseph Mbangula was the previous headman and has recently been replaced by his son William Mbangula.
Some of the residents in Omatando village were demolished by the Ongwediva local authority. According to ongwediva town council Andreas Uutoni says that some of the houses that were demolished within the village were illegal and part of the Ongwediva town.Omatando No. 1 and 2 became part of the Ongwediva town in 1992. Utoni indicated that the headmen and homestead owners have already agreed to surrender their village land to the council, and as such, the town council was surprised to learn recently that many individuals have sold and bought plots at Omatando without its consent already since 2009. [1] The members of the society have strengthen their rights on their land that had taken out without proper consultation on their knowledge and approval as they were also not paid.[2]
