About me

edit

Kanika Gupta graduated from National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi in 2009. It was here while studying Fashion Communication that she developed an interest in shooting and researching Indian handicrafts and textiles. Since then she has been involved in working with various arts across the country. She then did Masters in Art History and Aesthetics from 'Faculty of Fine Arts', MSU Baroda, Gujarat, India. Her subjects are mainly visual arts, Performing Arts and particularly Indian Sculpture. She has done documentation on Art and Heritage for INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) Delhi Chapter and CBSE, Delhi. Currently she is giving guided tours in National Museum, Delhi.

In order to pursue her research on Arts she started her own firm 'Mandala', which deals in documentation, research and trade of Indian art. She believes that Indian traditional Handicrafts must develop according to current needs of the society without loosing their essence. Putting them in the limelight she shoots fashion and lifestyle extensively. Photographing and shooting documentary films on art is a significant part of her work.

Exposure to Wikipedia

edit

I would love to add information on wikipedia about Ancient, Medieval and Modern Indian Art and Artists, a subject which has been long neglected. I started using the wikipedia in NIFT while doing my Bachelors. However there was a lot of information that I could not find on it and was disappointed.
