  • Daly, Matthew. “Quantifying the Environmental Impact of Ecovillages and Co-Housing Communities: A Systematic Literature Review.” Local Environment, vol. 22, no. 11, Nov. 2017, pp. 1358–77.[1]
    • This peer-reviewed academic journal article was published in the Local Environment in 2017, so it should be a reliable source. It also provides in-depth information as a systematic literature review for the environmental impact of ecovillages, it is helpful to develop notability.
  • Carragher, Vincent, and Michael Peters. “Engaging an Ecovillage and Measuring Its Ecological Footprint.” Local Environment, vol. 23, no. 8, Aug. 2018, pp. 861–78.[2]
    • This peer-reviewed academic journal article was published in the Local Environment in 2018, so it should be a reliable source. I will look into who funded this research more (Research funded by through the Academy of Champions of Energy project). It covers an ecovillages ecological footprint and examines one case study, the ecovillage in Ireland, Cloughjordan in county Tipperary. So, it may be used to establish notability.
  • Sherry, Jesse. “The Impact of Community Sustainability: A Life Cycle Assessment of Three Ecovillages.” Journal of Cleaner Production, vol. 237, Nov. 2019.[3]
    • This peer-reviewed academic journal article was published in 2019 in the Journal of Cleaner Production, so it should be a reliable source. It examines three ecovillages in-depth, so it can be used to establish notability.
  • Tres, Guilherme Smaniotto, et al. “Communal Labor in Ecovillages: Contradictions, Impasses, and Possibilities within the Notion of Self-Sufficiency.” Voluntas: International Journal of Voluntary & Nonprofit Organizations, vol. 34, no. 5, Oct. 2023, pp. 922–32.[4]
    • This peer-reviewed academic journal article was published in 2023 in the International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations, so it should be a reliable source. This article collected data from four ecovillages for 49 days, so I believe it can be used to establish notability.
  • Casey, Katherine, et al. “Prefiguring Sustainable Living: An Ecovillage Story.” Journal of Marketing Management, vol. 36, no. 17/18, Dec. 2020, pp. 1658–79.[5]
    • This peer-reviewed academic journal article was published in 2020 in the Journal of Marketing Management, so it should be a reliable source. This paper explores how individuals apart of these ecovillage communities navigate and provides insightful perspectives which I believe can be used to help establish notability.

Outline of proposed changes

edit
  • I will need to reconstruct the lead section to include the newly added major sections and consolidate the existing information, so it is concise
  • Either properly cite the image that's included or replace it with a newly cited image following Wikipedia's copyright regulations
  • I will search beyond the four included definitions to see if I can add any more relevant definitions
  • I will update the history and include more recent history since this article doesn't have newer history
  • I will expand upon the principles as I have found more applicable principles in my gathered references
  • I will completely redo environmental impact since it only has 4 sentences and is poorly written
  • I will expand on the governance section and include decision making
  • I will recheck the validity of the references and see if there is more up-to-date information that can replace irrelevant/outdated articles
  • Based off the references I've gathered I can add sections to address the content gaps
    • social dynamics/lifestyle
    • economic systems
    • case studies
    • challenges/criticism
    • future direction
  • I wanted to add sections about architecture/building materials, educational initiatives, cultural expression but I haven't found sufficient sources to include these in the content, but I will continue looking for more references
