I am a college student from the Pacific Northwest, who enjoys reading fiction books and watching medical drama tv shows on her free time. I also enjoy traveling and seeing new places, my favorite places to go are Hawaii and any of the Disney Parks[1]. My most favorite thing to do is get together with my whole family and do fun activities.

My Wikipedia Interests

edit

I am currently using Wikipedia for school. I don't often use Wikipedia, when I do it is usually for homework assignments or other little things for information. I do not see myself using Wikipedia in the long term after this class.

Article Evaluation

edit

For my topic I chose Lushootseed, which is one of the Native American Languages to Coastal Salish Natives. I am interested in this topic because this is the native language that is spoken in my culture. I visited the Lushootseed article in Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: Is this article up-to-date? Are any of the links dead? Is each fact cited with an appropriate, reliable source?

After looking at the Lushootseed in Wikipedia page I would say it is well up-to-date. But it could include in the Language Revitalization section that Marysville Pilchuck High School offers a class to learn Lushootseed language and some of its history. The page was last updated on January 18, 2021.

When going through all of the links, I found three dead links. When clicking on each of the links it took me to a page that said "this page was not found", they should either update or delete the links. One of the dead links was supposed to go to a website that offers a Lushootseed "phrase of the week" audio. The second dead link was supposed to go to a Lushootseed Immersion Program website. The last dead link was supposed to go to a Puyallup News website.

After reading though the page I've noticed that each section has good reliable source attached to each fact.

Overall, this article is well up-to-date could include some updated information. There are good links in each of sections and there are some dead links. All of the facts are cited with appropriate, reliable sources.
