JOSHEEN
Joe Kelly also known as Josheen is a D.J./Producer and Irish electronic musician from Galway, Ireland.
Kelly adopted "Josheen" from a term of endearment labelled from University days, the Nickname "Josheen Fontaine" in relation to Seb Fontaine, due to the style of music played. In University of Limerick he had undertaken a Business Degree and graduated in 2008, he had been quite active on the off limits electronic music scene in the Mid West and West, playing in unlicensed venues i.e. makeshift garages and rigs during Summer season. He had also started off on College and Pirate radio, namely on Wired FM (had notably interviewed Carl Cox in April 2002) and Radio Friendly (Galway). He had played venues between Limerick, Clare and Galway , notably at the Drum Bar (Galway),McGregors, The Gallery, The Scholars, Daffy's, The Globe and pub venues in Kilkee and Kilrush. During this time he had been in the Wegian Legion with Colm McCormack and played on Wednesday nights in the Drum Bar , Galway.
The side career of electronic music had been intermittent due to playing Football and played as a Goalkeeper for U.L., U.C.C. ,St.John Vianney (Artane), Mervue United, Claregalway Celtic and later at NUI Galway Colts. He also had a stint with Wingate and Finchley whilst training as a Teacher in London.
In 2012, he had returned with a double series mix album, notably Electronic Urban Artwork and Techno Neorealismo, he had played live performances of these highly intricate sets involving a high degree of samples with Music at The Blue Note Bar and the Bierhaus (Galway) , the former venue still owes the performer for the gig . These mixes were well received and The Scholars Clubs invited Josheen to return to perform , where he had performed the ultimate set and musical act of the Old Scholars club 8 years previous.
Then later that year had been invited to play in Italy, he had played at Venues in Milan , namely Ligera and Birrofico Lambrate and also played at an old Cinema in Lombardy for a One Day Event.
In 2016, he had returned with Tiger Tonica Electronica another mix album.
In 2017 , he had moved to work in Germany as a Teacher and made a cameo performance in Angermund's Schutzen Festival which had been an outdoor event staged at night time.
In 2018 he had returned home to Ireland and took up a Radio Programme with Flirt Fm 101.3 , and later created 33 45 West , a show based on electronic and indie music.
In 2021, he had started to produce his own tunes , Bertroit was his first release and then later Bay View Rise (The tune was named after the street the artist was born on) , Sodacake, Noir, Salon Electrique, Hibernia Perpetuum,Mintropstraße 17, Nexus Sub Rosa,2am, Ring of Stars,Orient, Deep State, Raven Terrace/Don't Make me Wait,The Sun and The Swarm, Neon Wegian, Adieu Albatross and is currently producing an album of works which due to be released in July 2021.
