Angela Yee

Angela Yee has always talked a lot. As a teenager, her friends used to call her "The News," because if you wanted to spread information, all you had to do was tell Angela. At the time, no one suspected this would be her future career.

While attending Wesleyan University, Angela majored in English with the ultimate goal of becoming a writer. After a series of internships, including stints at TVT Records, MTV, and Wu-Tang Management, she veered off-track and started to pursue a career in marketing. Her first official job after graduating from college was assistant to the CEO of Wu-Tang Corporation, which she attributes to connecting her with a plethora of important music industry executives, artists, and producers. Angela cultivated those relationships to break off, and consult for a variety of clothing lines, distribution labels, internet companies, and organize special events. She retained her relationship with GZA from Wu-Tang Clan, and began managing his career as a solo artist.

Another important relationship Angela maintained was with Paul Rosenberg - CEO of Goliath Artists and Shady Records, and the long-time manager of hip-hop superstar Eminem. It was that friendship which awarded Angela the opportunity to audition for the position of "The Cipha Sounds Effect" morning show co-host on Eminem's radio station, Shade 45, at Sirius Satellite Radio. Although she had no experience in radio, she knew that her knowledge of hip-hop, life experiences, connections, intelligence, and sharp sense of humor would make her indispensable. Angela eased rapidly into her position at Shade 45, delivering the Hard News, Rumor Report, and conducting unique interviews alongside radio veteran Cipha Sounds that you can't hear anywhere else. They have conducted memorable interviews with guests like Lindsay Lohan, Andy Dick, Samuel Jackson, 50 Cent, Eminem, Jay-Z, Diddy, Steve Carrell, Serena Williams, John Legend, etc.

Their show has not gone unnoticed, and after slightly more than a year of existence, "The Cipha Sounds Effect" has been nominated for "Satellite Radio Mixshow of the Year" at the prestigious Power Summit Awards and "Radio Show of the Year" at the Southern Entertainment Awards. Individually, Angela was nominated for "#1 Female Air Personality" at the Southern Entertainment Awards. Perhaps most impressively, she has also developed her own specialty show, “Lip Service,” slated for Monday nights, 8-10pm ET on Shade 45.

So what is the secret behind Angela's energy and unique approach every morning?

"I love what I do," she admits, "and I'm just a naturally nosy person - or maybe curious sound better. And if you listen to the show, you'll definitely learn something. I don't know how useful it will be, but you'll get information!"
