History
editAtypon was founded in 1996 by CEO Georgios Papadopoulos who was involved in pioneering developments at several high-tech companies in Silicon Valley. Mr. Papadopoulos’ early works included developing a sophisticated access control system for Rizzoli Publishing and data fabrication software for the first digital scholarly journal, the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
Atypon has grown both organically, as well as through the acquisitions of Extenza e-Publishing Services in 2005 and eMeta in 2008. The acquisition of eMeta expanded Atypon’s product portfolio to include RightSuite, an enterprise access and commerce platform for the publishing and media industry.
