Pedro Rossich
editPedro Rossich, 15th Sir of Solar from Barcelona[1], was baptised with the names of his grandfather, Pedro Gallifa. He married Beatriz de Portella, daughter of the Earl from Sales and Beatriz Reverter. In 1399, accompanied by his father, he carried the raiment for the coronation of Martin the Humane (King Martin of Aragon) in Zaragoza.
Background
editHis father Hugo Rossich had already previously acted with notable personality in the Catalonian Society. During such times, he was devoted to parliamentary acts, noted for being one of the assistants to the Catalan Courts - which were directed by King Martin of Aragon. He was one of the minorities who rebuked the notion that the assembly would gather in Barcelona as opposed to Montblanc, where they had been previously summoned[2]. In 1413, Pedro Rossich assented to the Courts of Barcelona which where summoned by Ferdinand I of Aragon.
During the rebellion of James II Count of Urgell, Pedro Rossich presented important services of information and vigilance at the frontier. In 1421, having settled the new Courts, he commanded one of the fractions from the aristocratic branch, opposing to the one commanded by his brother-in-law Galcerán of Portella. The disputes between the parties settled in favour of Galcerán with the support of Queen Maria of Aragon.
Pedro Rossich later travelled to Naples alongside Juan Ramón Folc in 1423 and shipped one of the three Catalan battling divisions which retrieved the dominance of the city[3].
In 1424, after returning to Catalonia he died, leaving as heirs:
- Arnau Rossich, followed by
- Beatriz Rossich, wife to Juan of Cardona
