The East Bay Run Club (EBRC) was a running club in the San Francisco East Bay, founded in November 17, 2008.

Organization

edit

The East Bay Run Club held organized runs (road and trail) every Saturday morning at 8AM. All road runs begin from the North Berkeley BART station. All runs are followed by a customary post-run brunch. In addition, post-run yoga sessions occur frequently led by a member and certified yoga instructor. If members choose to take a more active role in the club, they may volunteer to serve as a pace leader or club officer called a "meister".

The East Bay Run Club helps to support those living with type 1 diabetes who choose to be active in their community. A portion of all membership fees go to supporting the Type 1 Diabetes Association (T1DA), a non-profit charity that helps improve the quality of life for those living with Type 1 diabetes. [1]

Routemeister Proactive, a strong leader, creative problem solver, gifted manager, and excellent communicator, the Routemeister gladly accepts input from other meisters and members to manage weekly Saturday morning runs. He/she is quick to praise the club and other members for successes and never criticizes. He/she is charged with generating a meeting agenda for each run, including pre (recognitions, notifications, etc.) and post (yoga, strength-training, brunches etc.) run activities, creatively seeking to add value to the club whenever possible. With the assistance of the Trailmeister (if a trail run), he/she designs the running route (using Run.com) and posts the event to the EBRC website, coordinates with all paceleads to ensure they understand the route, creatively manages problems that come up during the run (ex. route changes, injuries) with input from other club meisters.

Trailmeister A lover of the outdoors and experienced trail runner, the Trailmeister is highly knowledgeable of East Bay trails. The Trailmeister is responsible for helping to arrange all trail runs and may pre-run the route, prior to the Saturday morning club run, in order to ensure that the route makes a good run for other club members.

Flashmeister The Flashmeister has a unique perspective of the world and ability to translate it into photographs. As EBRC’s own photojournalist, the Flashmeister combines artistic talent, creativity, technical skill, and strong artistic vision to create photographs that are both creative and visually exciting. It is the Strengthmeisters responsibility to help you achieve the goal you've set for yourself. The mixmeister helps to market EBRC online by posting EBRC/running music commentary, articles etc. on facebook, twitter, myspace, and and other websites.
