Stathamism edit

I was simply wondering why the article on Stathamism is was deleted, I would have gladly changed it but it is true. His cult following is more than simply existent I did not just make that up, and the doctrine (not religion) of Stathamism is followed by numerous people. I didn't mean to vandalize or throw mish-mash on there, in fact it was totally serious (even though I do acknowledge that some of positions of Stathamists such as Bishop of Pain, are ridiculous they do exist. So I know you do not have much time but could you perhaps elaborate as to why the content I added was deleted. It was just as real as the other content I have added that was not deleted. Thankyou, and hopefully I can work this out, if not then, so be it. EDIT: THANKS

cloudveil edit

Pitonpro 15:59, 31 December 2006 (UTC) you have deleted content I created for no valid reason. I have mirrored existing companies in profiling Cloudveil on the Wiki. Please explain in detail why you have ignored previous content as examples and deleted what I have added to the wiki. And please explain to me how I am a spammer. Clearly you have different ideas about what should be included in the wiki, but based on existing content I have no violated any rules. I would like to have the page titled cloudveil re-established. I did edit it a second time and this time I get no warning...Now I wonder who else can I contact to complain about this agressive editying and deleting that you have been doing to content I am creating....

Thanks for nothing!

Nerd pride day edit

As an embassor of the nerd counterculture, I am deeply sorry that you have send my article to deletion. I assume that you did what you had to do, as you thought that as a joke, or irrevelant. Nevertheless, this holiday is a fact. Even though I admit that my article is not a really good one, the article in the Spanish wikipedia already existed (although I do not know how to create the link from one wikipedia to the other) as "Día del Orgullo Friki". I hope that other people will help me to improve it if it is not deleted. We are trying to help this day being calebrated all around the globe. I ask you not to send it to deletion again, as I have added some references to it which might help you and others verify it is not a joke. And if you have to, please let me know what to do to avoid it for the next time. Thank you anyway. LeChimp 10:21, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Unhappy customers edit

Hey there, I don't really know how to respond to you... I hope this is the right way. You deleted my page claiming that my group is "non-notable". If you had taken a bit of time to research the group, you would see it that it is indeed notable, however you seem to have hit the delete button without giving it much consideration. The 5 years of existance, and the hundreds of members... Perhaps you should exercise some consideration before "policing" wikipedia. (article on Fastdubs, which you deleted within minutes of it being posted.)

were did the the universe come from? If your answer to that was, "Well it all happend randomly." How,then did this randomness occur? What made it possible? Think that over.

  • Joyous, why did you delete my page on Daniel Morcombe?

Massdisturbtion edit

I started a page about a local band called Massdisturbtion yesterday. I got a message this afternoon about it being under consideration for speedy deletion unless I explained why they are notable and the message told me to visit the general biography criteria, which I did, and when I went to change it, the page had already been deleted.

Jed "Big Wiggly" Holmes edit

I find it frustrating that an article on a rising hip hop star is up for deletion. Jed "Big Wiggly" Holmes was featured in an hour long interview and live performance on WRFA-LP in Jamestown New York, on the Local Music Showcase Hour, while his content was highly edited, he still maintained his message on AIDS awareness. Due to his airtime, he meets the half hour radio qualification for an artist page.

A Complaint edit

Hi, Joyous!. I have a complaint about the userpage of VolatileChemical: he has a counterfeit "You have new messages template." I think that this is inappropriate and inconsiderate, as it makes people who visit his page believe they actually have a new message on their talk page, when in fact they don't. What do you think should be done, if anything? Thanks! -- P.B. Pilhet 20:20, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Question edit

Hi, Joyous, it's P.B. Pilhet again. I have a question for you. I'm interested in becoming a sysop here, but I'm not sure if I'm ready. I've had some experience with Wikipedia for over a year, mostly editing every few months or so. Since early August (when I took the name P.B. Pilhet) I've been editing seriously (I now have close to 600 edits since then) and have been really involved in Newpage Patrolling. I'm also very familiar with Wikipedia's policies that are required knowledge for sysops. When do you think I should try for adminship, and what do you think I need to work on? Thanks! -- P.B. Pilhet (Talk to me here) 19:23, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Spoofhound edit

Hi Joyous. Thanks for knocking off the afd template placed by Irishguy. While I'm extremely annoyed that it was placed on there I'm not sure if you can unilaterally remove it (although I don't think Irishguy followed the proper procedure in placing it). I have made comments about why I think it should stay -- there are lists of unusual mascots and Spoofhound is always on those lists. Spoofhound is in the early stage of notability. Perhaps there should be a List of unusual school masocts or a category High School mascots. Interest in the mascot is usually higher than the school itself. There's almost always an interesting story associated with an offbeat mascot. Go Zizzers! Go Kewpies! Go Bonackers! Americasroof 03:50, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

P.S. I see that you placed the afd (I thought it was Irish guy). So since you removed it right away I'm not sure about the wiki etiquette. Americasroof 03:56, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I am going to ask you to please modify your comments on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Spoofhound. I spent several hours compiling List of unique high school mascots sorted by state from the two available sources to show its notability. That article is now in the process of being cleaned up and the Spoofhound is a unique component. You can see from user contributions that I'm a subsantial contributor to Wikipedia and so don't take this lightly. This nomination was made by a rival of the school with a personal vendetta. Thanks. Americasroof 02:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
I respect your opinion although I disagree. Is List of unique high school mascots sorted by state notable? Would Spoofhound be considered part of that article? Local high school mascots are a fun and unique aspect that define small (and not small towns). Americasroof 02:28, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
While I of course disagree with your position on removing/redirecting the Spoofhound, I do appreciate your various defenses of the new Maryville High School (Missouri) (and earlier vandalism). It does restore some semblance of my respect for the Wikipedia process which was pretty shell shocked in the last few weeks. Americasroof 03:24, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Tiananmen Square reversions edit

Hi, just a quick note. When you revert, can you please check earlier edits as well? It's just that when you reverted, you did it to a highly POV version which some troll has been repeatedly pushing. If you could bear that in mind if you come back to the page that would help us keep the more neutral version up. Thanks, John Smith's 09:46, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Duncan Ball edit

I didn't realise that Duncan Ball had been vandalised but I can assure you that Duncan Ball DOES live on John St. and Clair St. (corner).

As you might know, Duncan tours Australia & other countries giving talks about his books. He said he uses John St. Clair for (I think) adult themed books.

He Stopped Loving Her Today == + == Mistaken comment edit

Have you seen the comments on the Talk:He Stopped Loving Her Today page? The guy who put in the link seems pretty reasonable to me -- and if you check his contributions, he apparently did NOT link this blog to more than one site. So, unless you have further reasons, which I hope you will add to the discussion, I think this link ought to be reestablished. Hayford Peirce 16:38, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the opportunity to plead my case. I will not restate my entire argument from the other discussion link, but I did want to apologize again, and assure you that I am not a spammer, and I am now more aware of how the process works, and I will be scrupulous in my dedication to following the proper protocol. Thanks again for the consideration. Acruset 21:53, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

User:Aaron4433 edit

That user's purpose seems to be solely vandalism. He's inserting a to-be-deleted article on a fictitious ballplayer named Matt Hammie into articles about the Cubs and Sox and who knows what else. I'm guessing he needs a permanent block. Thank you! Wahkeenah 03:39, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I see he has been messing with several articles, doing similar random stuff, which unfortunately was not always caught. He also invented another fake name, not yet marked for deltion like Matt Hammie is. This one is called Ryan Sweeney. I don't know how to propose it for deletion. Wahkeenah 04:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
    • You're right, Sweeney exists. I modified the page from garble to a stub. Wahkeenah 04:20, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

A little help edit

Hi! I see you agreed with my opinion on the Flying zombo article. The article's creator has since removed the templates from the article, as well as on another article, Turkey Bowl. There has been a small discussion on the talk pages of both articles, which are currently ongoing. I still feel that the articles are not notable enough for inclusion. Could I perhaps have a second opinion on the talk pages, and perhaps help with whatever the next step may be, from someone who is presumably far more experienced at the whole deletion process than myself? (The Flying zombo article was my first ever prod, AfD or anything of the sort). Thanks in advance. --Dreaded Walrus 03:48, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and if you reply to this comment, please do so on your page if possible, it makes things easier to follow, and I have you on my watchlist now. Thanks. --Dreaded Walrus 03:50, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey Walrus! I think you're doing a great job of explaining the problem, and staying civil about it, which is something that many experienced editors have a hard time with. If the author of the articles agrees that they should be removed (as I think I'm seeing), you can tag them with {{db-author}}, and they'll be removed shortly. If he still wants to contest the deletion, you can place AfD tags on them. Joyous! | Talk 04:06, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes! :) I noticed that it was during my typing out of the second message on this page that he seems to have posted on Talk:Flying Zombo in a way that indicates he may well agree. We'll see how it plays out from here, I think. As for staying civil, yes, I too agree that all too often people may bite the newcomers, but I just see it like this: I was once a newcomer, and when I didn't understand something, people explained it to me. His edits weren't exactly malicious or anything like that, and he has been polite, and not done any personal attacks or anything, so why not welcome him to the community, you know?
Thanks for the response and the guidance anyway. :)--Dreaded Walrus 04:10, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Shepard Smith edit

I have gotten into a minor revert war over the use of "payoff" vs. "settlement", of all things. The other user has reverted for the fourth time in a short period, but that's not really my complaint, it's that he is using some writer's sarcastic or smear quote to push a point of view, and is justifying it on the grounds that the cited article uses that expression, and innocently claiming that the two words mean the same thing. As a native speaker of English, I know full well that they don't: "settlement" is neutral and vaguely legalistic; "payoff" is colloquial and often negative, especially in this context. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I don't think so. I wonder if you would mind weighing in. I'm sorry to keep pestering you with these petty issues all the time. Wahkeenah 00:17, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Warning tags? edit

Hi Joyous!,

I have noticed some reverts back to my previous edits which you have accomplished (for example related to Bob and Tom Show) and I wanted to thank you. I trailed back to the User's Talk page and noticed your comments and was impressed. I'd like to be able to place such a message which actually includes the article name, as I notice that there is some code which implies that that is possible within your remark.

I have decided to tend the Bob and Tom Show and related articles because their wide syndication attracts a lot of "fun" edits, many of which are incorrect or inappropriate. But, I'd really like to be able to send a message to the other editors to help them rather than just reverting the changes.

Is there a way to do this in a "semi-automated" manner (a tag, for example)? Could you point me to a list of such messages?

Thanks very much in advance for your support.

Fantabulous edit

File:Nazi Swastika.svg

This is your last warning.
The next time you close off open debate in regards to a valid page, as you did to Fantabulous, you will be recognized as a Nazi.

I find it rather arrogant that you should threaten to ban a user over an NPOV (non?)issue. If you feel as though you are justified in deleting well-written, well-formated articles because they don't reflect your individual pespective, it would seem that you yourself are the one that needs to consider what is in the best interests of Wikipedia.

If you want to resolve a POV dispute (over a caption, of all things!), have the decency to argue the point in a civil manner, rather than threatening new members.

142.157.200.210 03:26, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

That is the most ridiculous statement I've seen in a while here. You know perfectly well that the revisions had nothing to do with NPOV, and everything to do with copying the Richard Simmons article and changing a few words. Joyous! | Talk 11:58, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Joseph D. Clements edit

I highly recommend that the article Joseph D. Clements be speedily deleted. I think he is a high school student and I know his parents being from La Crosse, Wisconsin. Thank you-RFD 16:16, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

re: Bees and myths edit

Good evening, Joy. Good to hear from you again.

The "myths" section of the Bee article predated the addition of the comment about "bees knees" and has been problematic for other reasons. I glanced at the Aploximodoais article but gave it the benefit of doubt at the time. Now that you mention it, though, I'll try to do some digging to see if that term can be verified or if this was a particularly subtle hoax. It's not in my Webster's Ninth dictionary - but that's not yet definitive. Let's see what turns up. Thanks. Rossami (talk) 05:57, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Sean O'Brien The Greatest edit

Re Sean O'Brien The Greatest, the attack page that you just deleted: I think I recall that the same page, or one with a similar name, was deleted for the same reason (attack) just recently. You might want to check the logs and possibly protect the page if that is the case. I am not an admin or I would do it myself. ●DanMS 05:37, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

External links edit

Hallo Joyous! I have a question about your message: You ask me not to add inappropriate external links to wikipedia. When I compare the 2 links I added to other existing external links on certain webpages, I see that the 'appropriate' links (i.e the ones you leave alone), are also links to external -third party- organisations, such as our European organisation (STHOPD) is too. Our non-profit organisation works with volunteers and stands for certain principles which are similar to the 'appropriate' organisations on the webpages concerned, such as: Decreasing human overpopulation in an ethical way, having no children, warnings about the worldwide consequences of overpopulation such as the destruction of ecosystems. Please explain to me what would make our links appropriate. Friendly regards, 213.84.166.83 18:33, 21 January 2007 (UTC) MetaMouse.
