One Semi-Automated Forces (OneSAF) is a composable, next generation, entity-level Computer Generated Forces (CGF) simulation designed for brigade and below, combat and non-combat operations. Being a SAF model, OneSAF provides intelligent, doctrinally correct behaviors to increase the span of control for workstation operators. OneSAF was built to represent the modular and future force and to represent entities, units, and behaviors across the spectrum of military operations in the contemporary operating environment. OneSAF is unique in its ability to model unit behaviors from fire team to company level for all units. OneSAF is a cross-domain simulation suitable for supporting training, analysis, research, experimentation, mission-planning, and rehearsal activities. OneSAF is being integrated as the replacement for the constructive simulations within virtual trainers such as AVCATT, CCTT, and the Common Gunnery Architecture (CGA). OneSAF has been crafted to be uniquely capable of simulating aspects of the contemporary operating environment and its effects on simulated activities and behaviors. Special attention has been paid to detailed buildings for urban operations including interior rooms, furniture, tunnels and subterranean features, and behaviors to create mouse holes. In addition, OneSAF version 1.5, released on August 23, 2007, incorporates improvements in the following capabilities: Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), the creation of mouse holes, dynamic side changes, reduced profile shooting, urban medical evacuation, snipers, projectile penetration of interior walls, rubbling, conduct raids and ambushes, “technicals,” shielding tactics, decoys, craters, and naval operations. OneSAF models more than 25 sides and forces with asymmetric side relationships to better model the contemporary operating environment. As an example, in OneSAF, it is possible to model two tribes that are both friendly to the blue forces but are enemies to each other. In addition, OneSAF can model a force that blue sees as neutral while that force sees blue as the enemy.
