Jon Garinn
editJon Anthony (O'Guinn) Garinn (born April 17, 1963) is the managing editor of CURE magazine, the flagship publication of CURE Media Group, a position he assumed in February 2011.
Early Life
editGarinn was raised in a working-class Catholic household. His father, Joseph O'Guinn, was a blue-collar worker in and around Belleville, Illinois, and his mother, Judith O'Guinn, was a barmaid and waitress who eventually became a church secretary. During his childhood, Garinn and his family moved from place to place throughout Southern Illinois. He attended eight different grade schools in eight years.
He graduated from Belleville Township High School West in 1981. While in high school, he was active in the theater, speech and debate programs. His first job was as a pie baker at Marilyn's Pie Pantry.
After high school, Garinn attended Millikin University, after which he transferred to Illinois State University. He graduated with a degree in acting and directing from ISU in 1985.
Early Career
editAfter graduating, Garinn studied for the priesthood at St. Meinrad Seminary in Indiana. After serving two internships, he concluded his theological studies at Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis and was ordained a priest for the Catholic Diocese of Belleville in 1993.
Garinn served in an array of parish assignments until he was appointed pastor of two parishes in south-central Illinois in 1996. In January 2001, he left active ministry and moved to North Texas, where he eventually enrolled in the graduate journalism program at the University of North Texas in Denton and received a Mayborn Scholarship. While still a student, he became a copy editor at the Star-Telegram in Fort Worth, where he worked as a copy editor until his graduation in 2003.
In December 2003, Garinn became an advertising copywriter at The Dallas Morning News, where he advanced to the position of Special Sections Content Manager. He also served as editor of Pulse magazine, a medical specialty/recruitment publication for nurses, radiation technologists, physical and occupational therapists throughout North Texas.
CURE Magazine
editIn February 2011, Garinn became managing editor of CURE magazine, the nation's most widely distributed publication for cancer patients, caregivers and survivors.

editGarinn is married to Cliff Garinn, a nationally certified resume writer and career coach.
