My name is Jonathan Velez, and I am currently a student in the Human-Centered Computing MSIS program of the School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh. I am a researcher in the field of human-centered computing. I currently work a joint position with the Learning Technologies Lab and Pharmacy Innovation Launch Lab as a technical project manager where I provide technical leadership and closely work with teams of student designers, student software developers, clients, and collaborators from various schools and departments, as well as with industry partners. This position requires me to analyze, design, plan, schedule, and direct work for complex software development projects in the domains of instructional simulation and health information technology using a variety of programming and database development languages. In addition to my burgeoning expertise in research and development, I am also advancing my knowledge of data science and machine learning.

I previously attended the University of Central Florida where I was awarded a BS in Psychology with a minor in Computer Science, as well as a certificate in Language Science. I was a researcher at the Cognitive Sciences Lab at the Institute for Simulation and Training where we performed research in social signal processing and human-robot interaction. I additionally worked as a recitation instructor for various undergraduate courses, including data structures and algorithms, object oriented programming, and introductory statistics.
