The article I choose was about black holes. Why I choose this is because I find black holes interesting. From a little kid to now every time I heard of a black hole, immediately I knew there would be a gravitating conversation. Of course I would not only not no to much about black holes and so, I would just nod and agree to what the other person talking about it was saying. From growing up though and because of the class I'm in that lectures me about black holes, I feel confident enough to say I know a little bit more behind the idea of where they come from, what they do, and what they are. I would definitely love to apply my knowledge of them by contributing the idea of pictures, and to try to better explain them to wikipedia users. I want the public to know that the reputation of black holes are even cooler then the ones we see in cartoons and superhero movies.
How we thought of these Black Holes existing
Albert Einstein came up with his general theory of relativity and because of it he was the one to create the idea of black holes [1]existing. in 1967 John wheeler came up with the name black hole and four years later in 1971 the first one was discovered. There are about three types of black holes, the first one is called a stellar black hole, the next one is called a supermassive black hole, and the last one is called an intermediate black hole.[2]
Three types of black holes
There are about three types of black holes, the first one is called a stellar black hole, the next one is called a supermassive black hole, and the last one is called an intermediate black hole. A stellar black hole comes from a massive star that by essence have a gravitational collapse to form these types of black holes. The second type of black hole there is is called a supermassive black hole. Supermassive black holes are millions to billions of times as massive as the sun. These are black holes that are said to lie in the center of every galaxy. The third type of black hole that there is is called an intermediate black hole. One possibility of how they can form is by stars in a cluster colliding in a chain reaction. [3]
Characteristics of a black hole
A black hole has so many interesting things to it. For starters light cannot escape it because of its gravity being so strong. Also they are invisible and the only way we can detect them is by using telescopes that can sense its energy. [4][5]
