Bio
I am a college student from the West Coast pursuing a career in business. A part time hobby of mine is music. I've always loved both listening and playing music. My interest in music started about 4 years ago when one of my friends taught me how to play the bass. Ever since then it has been one of my favorite things to do. One of my biggest accomplishments music wise was learning the entire bass line to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen [1].
Wikipedia Interests
I haven't really had much experience with Wikipedia, but if I did decide to do volunteer work I would probably create pages for semi popular YouTube creators. I would choose to do this because I feel that most popular or semi popular YouTube creators don't get treated as real celebrities. Plus, I'm a big time consumer of content on YouTube.
Article Evaluation
editIntro
editThe article I choose to evaluate relates to one of my biggest hobbies, video games. Specifically Esports, which is organized competition using video games. While Esports is still a relatively unknown sport to the mainstream, it still is quite impactful. Last year alone CS:GO, a popular Esport, gave away over $14.5 million[1] in prize money across several tournaments. I visited the Fnatic [2]article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the accuracy of the information, the neutrality of the writing, and the presentation.
Body Paragraph 1
editFirst, the article did a fantastic job staying accurate to facts and events. The article went in depth on the roster changes that occurred over the years on the CS:GO team know as Fnatic[3]. Additionally, the article accurately encapsulated the many successes of the roster, including the two back to back major wins in 2015, an accomplishment that is still pointed to as one of the most dominant runs in the sports history.
Body Paragraph 2
editSecond, the language used for the most part was neutral. I found this to be refreshing, because many professionally written articles on the topic tend to attack the sport, or attack it's legitimacy, saying Esports aren't "real sports" (whatever that means). Regardless, this article stuck to facts instead of opinions which I really appreciate.
Body Paragraph 3
editThird, the presentation was excellent. The information presented in this article was far from boring; I imagine if I was new to Esports, I would likely gain interest after reading this article. In addition, the links sited I found to be very useful, providing additional context to the topic.
Conclusion
editIn conclusion, this article was very well written because the correct information, the unbiased nature of the writing, and the presentation. Overall a great article, definitely worth the read.
