Andrés Cabrero (born January 4, 1989 in Guaynabo) is a soccer player from the Puerto Rican Football Association.[citation needed]

He has signed with the River Plate PR in his beloved Puerto Rico. A press conference was held and he was introduced as Number #17 for the upcoming cups and league.
Cabrero played in the Puerto Rican amateur leagues until age 15, excelling as an attacking midfielder for Conquistadores de Guaynabo.[citation needed] He participated in soccer summer camps at Duke University, Clemson University and the University of South Florida and, following an invitation from an elite team from Atlanta, decided to continue his development in the United States.[citation needed] He played club soccer Cobb FC, where he won the South East Championship in 2005, and was included as player on the Georgia 89' Olympic development program (ODP) team during his three years in Georgia. During his time with the Georgia ODP team he scored one goal and made an assist in a victory over the Mexican youth national team, and played England's Liverpool team in a friendly held in Atlanta in 2007. After winning the Regional State Championship with the Georgia team, he participated in the National Championship, winning third place after an overtime loss to Illinois.[citation needed]
Cabrero was also included in the US ODP Region III team under coach Wolfgang Suhnholz in 2005 and 2006. With the Region III team he played at the Region Nationals in Chula Vista, California, and at the Mexican International Festival held at Guadalajara, Mexico, where he participated in victories over Chivas and Tecos and in a loss against Atlas.[citation needed]
He attended high school at Academia del Perpetuo Socorro located in Miramar, Puerto Rico up to his sophomore year. He transferred to South Cobb High Schoolat Atlanta.Cabrero played one year of college soccer at Georgia Southern University, but decided to pursue a professional career in the sport after his freshman year .[citation needed]
In 2008 Cabrero signed with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the USL First Division for two seasons.[citation needed]
During his stint at the Islanders he played a few games on loan with Sevilla FC Puerto Rico in the 2008 season of the Puerto Rico Soccer League. Returned to the Islanders for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. During 2009 he travelled to France and experienced training at Le Mans FC and Bastia FC. In January, 2010, he signed with FK Teleoptik of the Serbian First League, satellite club of the Belgrade giants FK Partizan. He was offered a contract at Hungary's First Division but decided to return to Puerto Rico and join his national team for the Central American and Caribbean Games. [citation needed]
In summer 2010 Cabrero joined River Plate PR which is the defending champion of the Puerto Rico Soccer League and as such, represented Puerto Rico at the Caribbean Footbal Union (CFU) Cup. Cabrero is expected to join the River Plate PR team at Buenos Aires, Argentina, for training during August and September 2010.[citation needed]
At 19 years of age,Cabrero made his debut for the senior Puerto Rican national football team in 2008, and scored his first international goal on January 16, 2008 in a 2-0 win over Bermuda. He was a starting player in all three of Puerto Rico's qualifying games for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
During said 2008 world cup qualifiers, Cabrero made the goal scoring pass for the 1-0 victory against the Dominican Republic and for the 2-2 tie against Honduras. Cabrero also played for the Puerto Rico U-20 team in qualifying games for the past FIFA U-20 World Cup and is a member of the Puerto Rico National under 21 team for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. In October 2010 Cabrero will join the Puerto Rico National Team for the Digicel Cup.[citation needed]
Cabrero is the son of Antonio Cabrero and Maria Gomez. He has one brother Antonio and one sister.[citation needed]
