JOHN DECKERT graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin College in 1971. Graduate work in Studio Art at the University of Texas in Austin, 1974-5. In and around New York City from 1976 on, various group and individual shows include exhibiting at Allan Stone Gallery and Tiffany's. Wrote articles about contemporary artists published in ARTS Magazine. The paintings shed their mantle of abstraction becoming figurative and realistic. Spent a year working in Paris and returned to New York City. Continued study in painting the figure with Hilary Holmes and Harvey Dinnerstein at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design. Involvement with computer graphics begins 1987. As an illustrator his work has been used in venues such as The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, The Late Show with David Letterman, BusinessWeek Magazine, GirlFriends Magazine and for film production companies such as the Separate Dreams Company and Full Tilt Productions. Very involved in printmaking, landscape, still life, figure painting and portraits. Moved to the Bay Area in California in 2002. See http://www.johnd.com
