Paul Attewell is an British sociologist, whose research examines the role of socioeconomic inequality in post-secondary education.

Attewell is presently Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center. His research on higher education has earned Attewell grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation, and he is a Grawemeyer Award recipient in education.[1]
