List of international cricket centuries by Kevin Pietersen

Pietersen is joint sixth in the most career Test centuries for England.

Kevin Pietersen is an English cricketer who plays as a top order batsman in both Test cricket and One Day International's for the England cricket team. He captained England in 3 Test matches and 12 One Day International's for a short period between June and December 2008 following the resignation of Michael Vaughan.[1][2] Pietersen resigned as captain in January 2009, following well publicised reports of a "rift" between himself and England coach Peter Moores who was subsequently sacked.[3][4] He has scored centuries (100 or more runs in a single innings) on nineteen occasions in Test cricket, and seven times in One Day International (ODI) matches.[5] He made his Test debut in July 2005 against South Africa at Lord's[6] Pietersen scored his first International century in an ODI against South Africa in February 2005, scoring 108 runs from 96 balls in a tied match.[7] He scored his first Test century against Australia in September 2005, scoring 158 helping England retain The Ashes.[8] He was appointed as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2006 as part of England's 2005 Ashes winning squad.[9]

Pietersen has been most prolofic at Lord's scoring five of his nineteen Test centuries there. He also scored centuries in three consecutive years between 2006 and 2008 at Lord's. He has scored five of his Test Centuries againt India and has scored centuries against every Test playing nation except Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.[10] Eight of Pietersen's nineteen Test centurties have been above 150 and three have been double centuries. Pietersen achieved his highest test score of 227 in December 2010 against Australia at Adelaide.[11] As captain, Pietersen made three International centuries, two Test centuries and one ODI century. He made the first Test century as captain in only his second match as he hit 100 against South Africa in August 2011.[12] His last came in his final game as captain against India in December 2008 as he hit 144 in a drawn match.[13] Pietersen's latest Test century came against India at The Oval in August 2011, he hit 175 as England whitewashed India 4-0.[14]

Pietersen has scored seven ODI centuries in his career.[15] In 2005, he hit three centuries in one ODI series against South Africa. He hit 108 in the second match of the series and followed this up in the fifth by hitting Englands fastest ever ODI century as he hit 100 not out in just 69 balls in a seven run loss.[16] In the seventh match, he made his third century of the series hitting 116 runs from 110 balls in a three wicket defeat.[17] All of Pietersen's ODI centuries have been at different cricket grounds and only one has been in England, at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street.[15] Pietersen's last ODI century came in November 2008 against India as he hit 111 not out in a six wicket defeat.[18]
