Nextblue is a Dutch-based online platform about water and climate change. The purpose of the platform is to use storytelling to empower the voices of communities in river delta regions around the world. It works in partnership with local media and development partners in several countries around the world.
Vision
editNextblue aims to bridge the gap between water research and experiences on the ground. The platform envisions a world where researchers are sensitive to local contexts, and the voices of local communities are at the centre of discussions, especially in times of severe climate change.
River deltas are increasingly affected by water scarcity, flooding and pollution due to climate change. [1] The platform inspires researchers and local communities to develop joint solutions to these problems.
Approach
editNextblue is using a unique three-step approach:
- Training local journalists to produce water and climate stories;
- Co-produce articles and videos;
- Share their stories during live events and online campaigns for meaningful climate actions.
