Ompundja Village

Ompundja is the village which was name after the wild animals called Impalas those where used to stay there long times ago.This village was found by old men who where used to hunt there in 1910s and they started building their houses there.The village was named Ompundja by the old man called KuKu Kapolo KaNuujoma. The majority of people who stay in Ompundja they are Oshiwambo speaking (Aakwambi). The village is having ±3000 to 5000 people, living there.

This village is developed compared to some villages in Namibia.Electricity and water is available,schools and clinics are also there.Many people in this village are subsistence farmers.This village has good grazing areas for all livestock such as goats,cattle,sheep,donkeys and horses.There is 2 dams and one annual river where livestocks used to drink and people used water from these dams for their gardens.People in this location they cultivate Omahangu and many crops like beans,peas,maize and groundnuts during the rain season which used to take place between November and May.[1]

Ompunndja its located in Namibia,Oshana region,Ompundja Constituency and is just 15km in the south of Oshakati.The head man of Ompundja village is Mr Abner Jafet. Ompundja Village is also near the followig villages,Omege, Omusimboti,Onamavo, Uukwiwongwe, Enguwantale and Oshikolongondjo.
