Tutorial 1 week 3

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autoimmune_disease

The first substantial edits, on this page, made on the 24th February, 2002, listed and defined examples of autoimmune diseases as well as some disorders that might be autoimmune related. If I had created this article first, I would have defined autoimmunity first, and then disease, second, before elaborating on the definition of the disorder. I would start somewhere along the lines of : “Autoimmunity is defined by the overreaction or oversensitisation of the body’s immune cells towards healthy cells. This causes one’s immune system to attack healthy cells, manifesting as…” before elaborating on any known diseases and their symptoms. If I was the second person reading this, I would edit this article by making sure that proper scientific terminology were used and to ensure to include molecular processes contributing to the disorder. For example, the cells and reactions involved.

The formatting lesson was very beneficial as it allowed me to visualise my article as an actual Wikipedia page. It therefore gave me insight into the expectations of the assessment as it placed the assignment in context. The lesson was also taught very clearly, which consequently aided in my confidence in this subject.
