The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP) is an academic society focused on advancing understanding of psychology by promoting excellence in the teaching and learning of psychology. The Society provides resources and services, access to a collaborative community, and opportunities for professional development. The Society also strives to advance the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), advocate for the needs of psychology instructors, foster partnerships across academic settings, and increase general recognition of the value of the teaching profession. STP was founded in 1945 and it serves as Division 2 of the American Psychological Association

- Note: STP functions as Division 2 of the American Psychological Association (APA) but welcomes to full membership those who have no APA affiliation. It is not necessary to belong to the APA in order to be a member of the Society for the Teaching of Psychology.

Each year, STP hosts a convention that attracts hundreds of attendees. Attendees include graduate students and new and seasoned psychology instructors. At the convention, research on best practices in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is shared and members are able to engage in professional development.
