I am a newbie making random edits on the edge of my sphere of knowledge, in order to learn how to use wiki markup & administer a small Mediawiki installation myself.
In other lives I am a Folklore Researcher and Computer Grump in Ireland. Unfortunately the area of folklore is quite focussed and I am being forced to Grump more often than I would like.
Sometimes I lie, awake at night wondering how templates work or dreaming of a plain vanilla Mediawiki which is easy enough for me to get my head around. I am simultaneously lured by the possibilities of Semantic Wiki and revolted by the idea of of all the extensions its installation would require, each to be upgraded with when Mediawiki is upgraded.
Sometimes the phrase "paralysis by analysis" drapes itelf like a damp sweaty towel on my head and shoulders for hours.
