Born 6 January 1962 (California, USA)
Based in Singapore as of November 2006

I am a writer and IT consultant. Mostly based in Asia since the late 1990s, I have travelled to and/or worked in over a dozen countries.

With thirty years' software/IT experience, my consulting revolves around three main areas:

  • Business consulting services, to help the client maximize benefit from IT (particularly desktop) spending;
  • Bespoke Web development; and
  • Bespoke software development.

I am a strong proponent of open standards over proprietary specifications, and of avoiding unnecessary and arbitrary restrictions which degrade the value of the product or content to potential users. I am working on a book detailing my approach and observations on how to develop easier, better, more effective Web sites using open standards and/or open source tools (which are often but not always closely related!)

I have written various blog and magazine content on topics as varied as Web and software development, American politics, classical and popular music, and religious studies.

Thank you for your curiosity. :-)
