Jean-Marie Salien, Ph D, Professor Emeritus, Fort Hays State University
Jean-Marie Salien (born in Port-au-Prince, Haïti) is a specialist of Languages and Literatures and an ex-professor in the Humanities departments of several Kansas Regents Institutions. Dr. Jean-Marie Salien’s doctoral dissertation in entitled « Dialectique de la raison et des passions dans la pensée de Jean-Jacques Rousseau ». His publications in « International Studies in Philosophy », « The French Review », « Contemporary French Civilization », «Études Françaises », «Modern Language Journal », « Présence Francophone », « Journal of Haitian Studies », «Mots Pluriels », among others, cover matters of interest in French language as well as Francophone and Haitian literatures. Dr. Salien’s research and publications focus on Rousseau, Alexandre Dumas, père, René Depestre, Jean Métellus, and general questions of language, literature, and civilization.
