Hello -- I'm John D. Niles. I'm a retired university professor with special interests in early medieval literature, folklore and mythology, Scottish traditions, the Anglo-Saxons, Beowulf, the theory of narrative -- lots of things. I appreciate how valuable Wikipedia can be as a quick reference tool, but I also notice that its entries are not all of an equally high quality. I hope to help improve a few of them through a bit of editing, and might initiate one or two new entries myself.
