Jim Angus

Jim Angus, MA, is a communications director within the Office of Extramural Research. Since joining the staff of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2001, he has served in a variety of roles, ranging from the Web program manager for the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) to his current detail within the NIH Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

Recently, he has been leading several efforts to explore the use of Web 2.0 applications throughout the federal government, including several multi-agency brainstorming sessions, and has spear-headed the use of some of these technologies at the NIH.

Jim has been working with web and other internet technologies since their inception, with a focus on communicating science to the general public. Prior to joining the NIH, he directed the development of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum's Web site, which was voted "Best Educational Use" at the 1997 "Museums and the Web" conference. He has taught numerous workshops on web design in Los Angeles, at "Museums and the Web" conferences, at California Association of Museums Conferences and at Museum Computer Network conferences. Recently Human Factors International featured him as "Certified Usability Analyst of the Month". He has served on the board of directors for the California Association of Museums, Museum Educators of Southern California, and the Museum Computer Network.
