Company History

edit

The Music Producer was founded in December of 2006 and is based in Miami Beach, Florida. The Company was founded by Ms. Whitney Belker who identified digital music production software as an exciting growth industry. While consulting for Billboardlive, a live music venue affiliated with Billboard Magazine, she organized an investor event for music and entertainment related companies post 9/11. She then discovered the PCDJ technology distributed by Visiosonic. Its software application was a lighter version of Visiosonic’s PCDJ software called Hip Hop Record Producer which primarily targeted the hip hop and rap artist and music producer.

In 2003, Belker founded Gem Entertainment Group, LLC (GEM) and acquired the international licensing right to sell Hip Hop Record Producer Software from Visiosonic. The company’s original strategy was to sell the product through a Direct Response TV campaign (DRTV). The a famed hip hop legend, Doug E. Fresh became the spokesperson for Hip Hop Record Producer and Hip Hop Starz. He starred in the company’s video commercial outside of his home in Brooklyn, New York. The video later aired on MTV, MTV2, VH-1, WB, Fox and Discovery Kids channels. Due to lack of appropriate funding GEM were unable to continue with the DRTV campaign and decided to sell the product via the website www.hiphopstarz.com.

In 2007, The Music Producer, LLC acquired the original software code and invested in enhanced software development, branding and the development of an interactive Web 2.0 web platform enabling people (even those without any music background or experience) to write and create their own music on their home PCs with digital music samples and loops. One can compose or arrange endless combinations of digital samples and loops matched to one’s own liking. Now The Music Producer has samples for a much wider variety of music genre and tastes including Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Latin and Dance music. The Music Producer has something fun for everyone!

The Founder, Whitney Belker, organized a team of technology and software industry experts to help reposition and prepare The Music Producer for mass markets. The company’s Advisory Board includes expertise with Universal Music, Sony-BMG, MTV International, CNN International, Sony-Ericcson, Redroute Agency, Publicis, HMV and FreeMantle Media.
