James Andrew Evora

James Evora got started in broadcasting at a very early age. Jamie started as a weekend DJ in 1974. Growing up, James had an introduction to the film industry through his aunt, editor-in-chief and columnist Ernie Evora Sioco. At an early age, James was more interested in the technical and behind the scene atmosphere. In 1974, he got introduced to radio and that was when he found his calling. After graduating in high school at age 15, he jumped right into an engineering degree at a university. After a year in engineering, James was longing for that atmosphere surrounded by music. James changed his degree to mass communications. During that first shift in degree, he joined a group to intern at a college radio station. One time in class, they were asked to read out loud a one page script that was 60 seconds in length. After reading his piece, James was met by a radio station Station Manager. They talked about what the SM heard from outside the class, which was held at a theater. It was June 1975, James was offered a position for a newswriter/newscaster and a morning DJ.It took James 3 months to decide but he took the job with the Christian Broadcasting Service, DZEM. Six months after that, James was asked to join the pioneer rock station in Manila, DZRJ. James started as a news writer/newscaster until he was asked to go on board and fill in for one of the DZRJ-FM jocks for a staff meeting. Not knowing that the entire broadcasting staff was listening, he got a call to talk on the air. Right then, The Spirit was born at DZRJ, "The Rock of Manila".

James graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications.

In 1983, James hosted a weekend radio program in Honolulu, HI.

In 2008, DZRJ was able to get another frequency in Manila and they thought of having seasoned Rock Jocks to host the Sunday feature show. Together with jocks Stoney Burke, Cousin Hoagy, The Gaucho, The Mole, Mr. A, and The Spirit, they took it for a run until DZRJ lost the frequency which was on loan to the Rajah Broadcasting Network.
