edit

The Delabole wind farm is a large area in Delabole, Cornwall, England with wind turbines used to generate energy. It was the first commercial onshore wind farm built in the United Kingdom, in November 1991. This wind farm was the developed by Windelectric Management Ltd.

History

edit

Since 2002, the farm has been owned and operated by Good Energy. As of 2010, Good Energy invested €11.8m in the wind farm to re-power it with four larger turbines twice as tall as previous ones standing at 325ft. These new turbines come from Enercon and have a combined capacity of 9.2MW all together. According to BBC, this amount of energy could supply enough energy for over 7,800 homes, whereas the previous turbines only could provide energy for 2,700 homes.
