History

edit

Red Hot Sunglasses was established in 2010 as a father/son business by Phil Blackett and Philly Blackett. The company moved to a larger headquarters in Hoults Yard, as its brand portfolio had quickly expanded to over 85 different designer labels. It was then purchased by Fabris Lane in 2013 who were subsequently bought out by FGX, a subsidiary of Essilor International.

Fabris Lane was established in 1982 by Rod Lane and Mario Fabris in 1993. Fabris Lane formed their own complete sunglasses business, launching their own trademarks in 1994. The headquarters were set up at [2]Chessington in Surrey.

FGX became a subsidiary of Essilor in March 2010. Essilor was created from Essel and Silor, two companies dating back respectively to 1849 and 1931, which dominated the French optical eyewear market in the mid-20th century.[3]

As of 2016 Red Hot Sunglasses continues to sell designer eyewear globally, and has now been successfully trading for 6 years.
