Whitman sent a copy of the first edition of Leaves of Grass to Emerson, the man who had inspired its creation. In a letter to Whitman, Emerson said "I find it the most extraordinary piece of wit and wisdom America has yet contributed."[13] He went on, "I am very happy in reading it, as great power makes us happy." editJakeLong1995, I'm glad to finally see some progress on your project now. I have some serious concerns about how it's proceeding, however. First, all of these assignments should be posted to your Talk Page, not the User Page. Second, I'm not getting any sense on these smaller assignments that you understand how to use Wikipedia editing features. You've inserted no hyperlinks (as required), and have not signed any of your posts (as required), so I had to search the page history to find out when you had submitted your work. My bigger concern, however, is how you have completed this assignment. Instead of giving me a summary of the work you will conduct, you've listed the exact changes you've already made. I see that you have changed this "Summary" section 3 or 4 times since you originally posted it on on the 4th (2 days late), so I don't have a good sense of what you are working on; every change to the summary section is significant, and gives a different set of edits that you have made (and not a summary of the kind of change you will make). It seems that you are going in and making many small changes to the article on the poem, but I can't tell if the work you are doing is enough to fulfill the requirements for this assignment, since directions for the assignment haven't been followed. Finally, you haven't completed the other half of the summary assignment, which was to post your proposed edits to the talk page for the article you are working on. So, while I appreciate that you are moving forward with this project, significant improvements will need to be made in how your record and report the work that you are doing if you want to receive credit for this project.
